❓ FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers — click a question to expand it.

How many sources can I import?+
Up to 5 sources per account. You can delete old ones in the Sources manager.
Does iPii.TV work without an IPTV subscription?+
iPii.TV itself is free, but you need an M3U source (your own file or an IPTV provider URL). You can find freely available M3U lists, for example, at iptv-org/iptv (GitHub).
Which stream formats are supported?+
HLS (m3u8) is the primary format — it works in the browser and TV app. MPEG-TS is natively supported in the TV app; in Live TV, .ts runs via a transcoding proxy.
Why do I see "Open in external player"?+
For VOD content (movies/series) or HTTP streams on an HTTPS page (mixed content), the browser cannot play directly. The external player works around this.
How does TV pairing work?+
The TV app generates a 6-digit TV pairing code. Enter it in the browser; the server stores the connection. Control commands are then pushed directly from the browser to the TV — push latency under 500ms.
Where is my data stored?+
Account, sources, and watchlist are stored on our server (ipii.tv, Frankfurt). Watch history, theme settings, and cache are stored locally in the browser (localStorage).
Can I watch multiple channels at once?+
Yes — in the Multi-Stream module (classic view), you can run 2 or 4 streams at once in PIP/split/grid.
How does the TV app update?+
Automatically — at startup, the app checks for a newer version and installs it without intervention.
🔧 TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting

Common errors and their solutions.

⚠
No channel starts — but the internet works
DNS NETWORK

Typical symptoms: The website and app load normally, but every channel stops immediately — often with “Playback error (Code 1004).” It may work on a phone on the same Wi-Fi network.

The cause: Your router or device uses a DNS server with a filter list (e.g., AdGuard, Pi-hole, NextDNS, or a filtered provider DNS). Your IPTV provider's address is on such a list and is not resolved. Your internet connection is fine — only this name is blocked.

Why it sometimes still works in the browser: Some browsers (such as Opera with VPN/proxy enabled) resolve addresses through their own servers, bypassing your filter without you noticing.

Solution A — allow the address in your own filter: If you deliberately use a filter, add your provider's domain to its allowlist. In the filter log it usually appears as “blocked.”

Solution B — use unfiltered DNS:

  • Open the router interface → change DNS from “automatic” to “manual”
  • Enter two unfiltered servers (examples; your choice): 9.9.9.10 and 149.112.112.10 (Quad9 without a filter list) — or 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare)
  • Save, then briefly disconnect the router and TV from power
  • Open the channel again

Quick test: Open your provider's address in the browser on the same device. If nothing loads there while ipii.tv loads, DNS is a strong likely cause. (Less often, the provider itself has an outage or a firewall is responsible.)

iPii.TV does not provide channels and cannot bypass or remove such blocks. This guide only helps you find the cause in your own network.

⚠
Stream will not load / buffering
HLS NETWORK

First check:

  • TV Wi-Fi signal is stable (at least 10 Mbps for FHD)
  • Another channel with the same quality works
  • The browser console (F12) may show CORS/CSP errors

Solution: In Settings → Actions → "Clear cache", then restart the channel.

⚠
TV pairing code is not accepted
PAIRING

The code is valid for 10 minutes. Create a new one on the TV. Make sure the TV and browser are signed in to the same account.

⚠
EPG shows "No EPG data"
EPG

The channel has no matching entry in our EPG database. Some highly specialized or regional channels are not included. For major channels (ARD, ZDF, RTL): "↻ Refresh" in the channel row.

⚠
App cannot be installed (Android TV)
TV-APP

Check whether "Unknown sources" is enabled in TV settings. Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Apps from unknown sources.
